Ignite Talk

The DC Public Library is engaging District residents in civic understanding and action in the nation’s capital – where we are surrounded by the forces of the federal government but we ourselves do not have federal representation. We lean into our core value “Stay Rooted”: standing up for DC, advocating for others, and representing our community. In practice, that means focusing on local government and local actions, and how people can make their neighborhoods and the District stronger.

Host

Meghan O’Connor

Meghan O’Connor is the Director of Service Design & Engagement for the District of Columbia Public Library.
Meghan provides strategic oversight for library services across all 26 DCPL locations. This ranges from launching library services inside the DC Jail to implementing Books from Birth, an initiative to provide all District children under five with a free book a month. Prior to joining DCPL, Meghan was a Senior Program Officer at IREX, where she was responsible for program strategy and management for the Gates Foundation-funded Global Libraries programs in Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine.
