“Meet 15 book-loving kids (ages 9-12) from five different schools who have come together to read and create stories as “The Story Acrobats”.
Inspired by the street art parkour, they’re building community, culture and identity through reading and writing in their spare time. Parkour is “the skill and the right to move freely.” The Story Acrobats do this with their imagination, not solely by reading alone in their room but by developing the craft of storytelling while having fun together, every single week.
Together, with project manager Karin Grand, The Story Acrobats have created the short film “Future Read Jump” for NEXT, offering their take on the themes of play, democracy, and sustainable development goals. Meet The Story Acrobats at the ramp to get an uplifting look into the future.
Host
Karin Grand
Karin Grand is a writer and filmmaker moving between the fields of art and education. As a project manager at “Odder Bibliotek”, she is building a bridge between the public schools and the local library, challenging habitual practice in both professional cultures. Working like an undercover artist in residence, her invitation is to commit to reading and writing as a passionate choice of expression at a young age – learning to think like artists rather than pupils. Recently Karin Grand was the editor of an anthology of cartoons and short stories with 120 kids participating. Her recent short documentary “We Planet” was screened at the contemporary gallery AROS.
