Today metadata in literature is created and governed by a small group of arbitrarily selected editors/librarians. But can we democratize the process of creating and governing metadata by utilizing a democratic crowd sourcing models with assistance from generative AI. Maybe even expand and enhance metadata with a structured vocabulary as part of the process?

Metadata is the key to recommendations and great recommendations are key in inspiring readers. We want the get workshop participants to take part in a discussion about the future of metadata so we can help reader’s find books they would love to read and get people to read even more. Maybe even get more people to read.
